It's not
everywhere that you will find a public, county-operated park
that has so many activities available in one place. Anyone who
enjoys being outside and being active will find something fun
to do here. Okeeheelee
Park, established in 1981, is located west
of West Palm Beach, adjacent to the Florida Turnpike.
Okeeheelee is the Seminole name for quiet
waters, a perfect choice because of the number
of lakes within its gates. The entire park is open from
sunrise to sunset with lighted facilities in some areas until
11 p.m. Night-time slalom water skiing is available in the
East-West ski lake.
Within Okeeheelee Park's
1700-plus acres, you will find:
- 8 miles of bike and skating
paths
- 27-hole public golf course with
driving range, putting/chipping area and pro shop
- Okeeheelee Nature Center
(includes Braille Trail for the visually impaired)
- 111-acre Jim Brandon Equestrian
Center
- Water skiing
courses (permit and fee required)
- Lighted baseball and
multi-purpose sports fields
- Tennis courts
- Volleyball courts
- 1.2 mile fitness trail, with 20
exercise stations
- BMX track, offering
lessons, practice and competition
- 157-acre freshwater fishing lake
(known for its bass)
- Canoe, kayak, pedal boat and
bike rental concession
- Pooch Pines Dog Park
- Children's playground
- 4 covered picnic pavilions (can
be reserved ahead for parties and events)
- Picnic/barbeque areas with
